Armattan Japalura 4 FPV Quad Frame

The Armattan Japalura is the little brother to the popular Armattan Chameleon. The components used here will work on either the 3" or the 4" baseplate. Traditionally 1407 motors have been used exclusively on 3" builds, but a new trend has emerged putting 4" props on a 3" powertrain. The advantage is a light-weight build with the flexibility to choose either 3" or 4" props and carry an HD camera. This particular configuration can easily handle a Mobius mini.

As the "younger sibling" to the Chameleon, the Armattan Japalura is the fanciest micro frame around, and the second design in Armattan's selection that features aluminum protection.  Inspired by many of the same principals as the Chameleon, the Japalura is a lighter, more compact package that still supports many of today's FPV standards. This "4 inch" frame can handle full-sized miniquad guts, houses your standard HS1177 camera, and shields everything but the battery with two 4mm thick 6061 aluminum ribs.

As with any Armattan release, some of the best features of this frame are the lack of restrictions you have when building.  For example: like usual, the Japalura supports a 30.5mm center stack up to 28mm high.  In addition, the adjustable angle on the aluminum VTX mount supports a variety of transmitter options.  Another feature is the option to mount the battery on the top or the bottom of this machine, just in case you have a strong preference. Lastly, if built with an eye on the weight of all the components, you ought to be able to skate by underneath the United State's FAA Registration restriction of 250g.

Available in either silver or purple, this frame looks smashing when paired with Oomph 1407 motors.

Introductory tutorial of FPV Drone

You will have fun if you are a FPV tyro expecting to operate a FPV drone casually but you have no suitable measures. Now we are providing a detailed introductory tutorial for you, hoping it can help you improve from an inexperienced rookie to a skillful veteran.

1. If you have never seen quadcopter, you need to buy a mini one like a toy. Although it looks very inconspicuous, but it has a genuine advantage that a formal FPV can't compare with.
Firstly, it is extremely difficult to operate a FPV. Operating a FPV excellently needs long-terms accumulated skills. It is inevitable to land unsafely. So we need a mini quadcopter with low price and high safety to practice.

Secondly, a broad flying space is needed to operate a FPV, but mini quadcopter has seldom requirement for flying, with which you can practice at home.
For the two reasons above, do not start directly with the machine if you have no contact with quadcopter, which is very expensive and dangerous.

2.
You can plan to buy a FPV when you are familiar perfectly with mastering a mini quadcopter.
After all, what kind of model should be chosen as the first FPV?

There are two kinds of FPV in the market. One is RTF (ready to fly) UAV which means you can operate it as soon as you get it. Another one needs you to choose and buy body frame, motor, screw propeller and relative electronic component, then assembly and test them.

If you have strong manipulative ability, we strongly recommend second plan because the process of DIY for UAV is full of pleasure. Moreover, you will get many various skills in the process, which will help you a lot in the future.

3.Structure of FPV drone

You have to be aware of the structure of FPV drone no matter what kind of plan you choose. A FPV can be divided into several parts below.
The body frame: the frame of the plane.

Four motors: used to drive the propeller rotation

Four ESC (electronic speed controller): used to adjust electric current and supply power for motors.

Four screw propellers: rotating generates pulling to drive the plane to fly

Flight controller: the brain of FPV controlling various flying posture

FPV Lipo battery: supply power for the FPV

Transmitter and receiver: used to transmit your control command to the FPV.

The components above can let the FPV fly and do some easy flying exercise. But if you want to enjoy real FPV, you need to ask help from the components below.

The camera and image transmission: used to transmit first view images seen from the FPV
FPV glass or screen: used to output the image seen from the FPV and give you an experience you are operating the plane.

Antenna: used too enlarge the signal from image transmission.

Having equipped with all the components above, you will go into the world of FPV. If you want to share your flying video, a HD camera is needed.

4 .Flying

You can fly with your friend when you can master a FPV skillfully.

5.Cautions for safety

Firstly, do not flying in crowded place.
Secondly, ensure the UAV are free by adjusting image signal before flying
Thirdly, practice with mini quadcopter before flying FPV. Besides, you are suggested to try with FPV after you are familiar with mini quadcopter.
Fourthly, ensure the power is sufficient before your flying or prepare several spare batteries because over-long continuation of flying journey contents you more and avoids crash from air for lack of power. Tattu battery is suggested for its long-time continuation and strong explosive.

How to Extend the Battery Flight Time of Drone FPV

Most Quadcopters have a flight time ranging between 3minutes to 20minutes. However, other cheaper models have a flight time shorter than this. The most puzzling question that Drone FPV pilots face is how to extend the flight time of the FPV battery in use.
There are many factors that affect the flight time of the FPV drone; such as the weight of the drone, winds, flight recording, and flight style. The addition of weight, presence of wind and recording your flight using a camera are some of the conditions that drain your FPV battery flight time.

Tips To Increase Your FPV Battery Time:

1. Choose a big battery.

Most Drone FPV models are fitted with mid-size batteries which do not offer flight time longer than seven minutes on average. Acquiring a battery with a higher mAh will increase your flight time. However, do not use a huge battery since it makes the drone heavier leading to more energy consumption, this impacts negatively on the flight time.

2. Choose a conservative flight mode

Drone FPV models have a range of flight modes. These are dependent on the transmitter sensitivity. To increase the FPV battery flight time, you should choose the less aggressive flight mode, which is the lower sensitivity flight mode.

3. Ditch the camera if pos sible

Some cameras are detachable. If yours is, it is highly recommended that you remove it. The camera drains the battery since it is heavy and also the recording itself link directly to the battery thus shortening its flight time.

4. Experiment different propeller sizes

The size of the propeller fitted on the drone affects the battery flight time since it impacts on the power consumption. Before using different propellers, start by experimenting with the manufacturer's recommended propeller then use different sizes while observing the flight time observed using different sizes.

5. Charge the FPV battery at the right time

Do you charge your battery moments before using it or days before flying? Charging your battery long before using it decreases both the lifetime of your battery and the flight time during flying. It is recommended that you charge your battery some minutes before using it.

6. Fly in the appropriate conditions

If you fly your drone FPV outdoors, then you should consider the right conditions to fly in. Avoid windy or rainy conditions. Flying in the wind increases the resistance that the drone faces when turning. Higher resistance translates to more power consumption thus draining your battery faster. Rainy conditions also damage the drone's battery.

7. Remove prop guards

Prop guard is the frame that covers the propeller to protect it. The propeller has an advantage since it protects the propeller. However it has a disadvantage since it increases the weight of the drone thus increasing the power consumption and reducing the battery flight time. Removing them will make your Drone FPV lighter thus consume less power during flight.

8. Do not overcharge the battery

FPV batteries can be dangerous when overcharged. It can explode and cause fire. Alternatively, overcharging reduces the lifetime the battery.

9. Do not allow the battery to drain completely

It is highly recommended that you don't drain the drone's battery. Ensure you do not fly the drone when the battery is less than 20% percent. This reduces the battery's lifetime.

10. Consider making your own model

If you are not impressed by the time that your Drone FPV model offers, you may consider making your own drone. How do you go about this? Don't worry; there are numerous sources of information on the internet that can guide you in making your customized model.

Commonly Used FPV Equipment of Play with FPV Sports

Unless you invest in the right FPV equipment, your experience while taking part in FPV sports may not be the best. Call it video piloting or remote-person view (RPV), but one certain thing is first-person view (FPV) is fast becoming a popular terminology in gaming and sporting. By using special devices or gadgets, a user is able to have a pilot's or driver's view as if inside an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). This makes the game more realistic, exciting and challenging. For this kind of view, the following FPV equipment is necessary:

FPV equipment: Camera

The camera provides the views or images of where you are driving or flying through. There are two kinds of cameras: Dedicated FPV and gopro camera. The dedicated type is specifically designed for FPV sport and is usually cheaper and lighter than other types such as the gopro camera. The sense of motion is also better. The gopro camera is suitable for those who are after basic experience and desire to have video/ photo feeds.

FPV equipment:Transmitter

The transmitter is without-a-doubt one of the vital FPV equipments. It wirelessly sends the signals from the transmitter to the receiver. For instance from the ground to the airborne station. The standard transmitter normally transmits at a frequency of 5.8 GHz 25mw. Anything higher may require a special license depending on the region. High-end transmitters have a wide frequency range and are compatible with different types of receivers.

FPV equipment:FPV Battery

To power both the aerial and ground station, it's vital to rely on a source or power/energy. This is delivered via a set or pack of batteries. They make the machine fly or run as well as transmitting and receiving the radio signal. Modern batteries are more advanced, more powerful and also last much longer. Made from LiPo (lithium-ion), the batteries capacity ranges from 1050mah battery to 5000mah. They are also lighter so as to make the UAV lighter, faster and easy to maneuver.

FPV equipment:Antenna

Though it may seem like a basic accessory, the antenna is a vital component in FPV sports. In order to send and receive the radio signals, an antenna or aerial is needed. A high quality type is very sensitive and receptive and ensures minimal drag or signal delay. It's also less-susceptible to distortion or interference from other signals or radio waves. When choosing a product, it pays to focus on the distance of sensitivity, effective radius and diffraction ability.

FPV equipment:Receiver

This component receives the video/image signal from the transmitter. There are different types in the market and each comes with unique specifications. You can go for a separate receiver that is ideally suited for USB capture cards or LCD monitor. There is also a receiver that forms part of the goggles or monitors. In addition to being more compact, this type is also easier to use.
Other notable equipments include the cradle head, video goggles, carrier aircraft, image display memory, extended-range remote control, On Screen Display (OSD), and OSD Modules. When buying the equipment whether glass, screen/display, antennae or FPV battery, it's vital to get original FPV equipment from a reputable source.

The Benefits of Playing Drone FPV

Drones are undoubtedly a ground-breaking invention of the modern times. They are being used for numerous applications in various fields. But the one application that is gaining huge popularity nowadays is FPV racing. FPV or First-Person-View is attracting hundreds of pilots with its unique and newfangled approach. This is simply a race where the pilot can see live footage through the camera integrated on their drone. A special goggle with the in-built screen is worn by FPV racers where the live footage is transmitted.

As the name suggests, First Person View gives the user a feeling that he is up in the air and flying his drone first-hand. This is one of the most appealing factors about this game for both the pilots and the spectators.

An amazing race course is designed with several obstacles to make the drone FPV racing even more exciting and thrilling. A group of FPV racers comes together with their drones and state-of-the-art goggles to combat directly. The game enables them to fly up to 70 mph in places that are abandoned and isolated. However, in order to keep flying at the highest speed, it is absolutely necessary to use a high-end FPV battery in the drone.

What are the benefits of playing drone FPV for the pilots?

The foremost benefit of playing drone FPV is the chance to get to fly. Most of the pilots are simply attracted to the game because it provides a great experience of flying drones. It also offers a podium where they can encourage their DIY skills of building their own equipment. They can buy simple parts of the drone separately according to their prerequisites. Using these gears, they can fabricate their own FPV drone and participate in the races. If you have the knowledge and skill to build such innovative machines and fix the upcoming errors, you can venture out further.

The game is not limited to flying your self-built machine but is also bringing financial benefits to the players. There are various races being arranged for the FPV racers where they can take part. There is a grand winning prize for the winner too. One such example is the first drone race 'World Drone Prix' held in Dubai where a 15-year-old boy won $250,000.

What are the benefits for the spectators of the race?

For benefitting the spectators of the FPV racing, there are still attempts being made. The organizers are making every possible effort to bring thousands of by-standers to the stadium. However, the actual race is not that exciting to watch as it would be to see the live footages from a drone camera. Thus, efforts are in progress to give the race a more reality TV like effect.

With the ever-growing popularity of drone racing, it will not be wrong to expect a bright future in this sport. There are talented people who are making these machines themselves and are eager to participate in the races as well. We will have to wait and see what other benefits are possibly relevant to these FPV races in near future.
