Why do we choose lipo battery for our quadcopters?


Lipo, the full name is lithium polymer, today they are used in many places like in mobile phones, powerbanks and quadcopters. But why are quadcopters using lipo battery? Before answer this question, we should know What does quadcopter need and what’s the lipo battery?
Quadcopter has got more and more popular; quadcopter as a drone are also used in aerial photography and FPV Racing, so most aerial photography pilots hope their quadcopters can fly longer and FPV racers hope their quadcopter can fly fast. But a few years ago, all that was available to Radio Control enthusiasts were gasoline powered helicopters is the availability of LiPo batteries. Quadcopter is an incredibly inefficient device. If you want to fly longer, you need a larger battery, so you will find it is very funny: the heavier a quadcopter is, the more powerful its motors need to be. The more powerful the motors, the bigger batteries you need, the bigger batteries, the heavier – it goes in a circle, getting worse, each time around. the formula just doesn’t work unless you have a battery technology that is light enough.
Prior to LiPo batteries, there was no practical battery technology that could allow you to close the loop on that equation. LiPo (and LiIon) batteries have a very high energy to weight ratio, and also (important) a very high discharge rate.
The technology is such an improvement over all previous technologies (in these parameters) that the entire paradigm has turned. Now the sky is the limit and designers can think outside the box. Things like, how big a motor to lift a man, how big a battery to run it – yup – it’s doable. Quadcopter so you can “”ride on”! It means for the same weight of the batteries of different types say Lipo and lion (lithim ion) Lipo can store more power over other’s
So as in quadcopter weight is the greatest factor as it affects flight time, maneuverability and many other so minimizing the weight is the greatest concern and here the Lipo battery helps in doing that making it a great choice.
Also you need a high discharge rate as quadcopter motor needs a high current during flying Lipo have amazing discharge rate.

  • Battery Checking: When charging, if the voltage of any single cell is lower than 2.5V. The Red LED will start blinking and the charging will be stopped. The voltage of the battery is dangerously low. DO NOT use this battery pack under any circumstances. Safely and properly dispose of this damaged battery pack immediately.
  • Abnormal Detection: If the Safeguard detects anything abnormal, the Red LED will activate which means the Safeguard is malfunctioning. Please contact info@gensace.com for assistance.
  • Auto Sleep Mode: When connecting the Charging Safeguard to the battery, the indicator LED will deactivate and the Safeguard will automatically start Sleep Mode if charging does not begin within 30 minutes. Please disconnect and reconnect the battery to exit Sleep Mode.
  • LED Indicator:  If the Green LED is active, the Charging Safeguard works properly.
                              If the Yellow LED is active, the protection feature is activated.
                              If the Red LED is active, the Charging Safeguard is malfunctioning
                              If the Red Led is blinking, the battery pack is defective and unable to be charged.
HOW TO USE
Connect the main lead and balance connector of the BATTERY to the output of Safeguard. If the Green LED is active, then connect the main lead and balance connector of the CHARGER to the input of the Safeguard. Make sure the connections and indicator LED are correct then begin charging the battery. If there are any abnormalities please stop charging immediately. To resume charging, please troubleshoot all problems and restart the charging procedure.
ATTENTION
You’d better be attention to these when you are using Gens Ace Charging Safeguard.
  • DO NOT reverse connector polarity.
  • DO NOT short any connectors together.
  • DO NOT leave this product unattended while charging. Stop using the Safeguard      if you find anything abnormal.
  • DO NOT charge any battery that is not in the correct voltage range.
  • USE with Lithium polymer batteries ONLY. DO NOT use any other battery                    chemistry with Charging Safeguard.
  • Keep Charging Safeguard away from dust, humidity, rain and heat sources. Avoid      direct sunlight and strong vibrations.

Tattu 2305 2450KV Brushless Quadcopter Motors Review

Tattu has been an active member of the miniquad community since the early days, but this is their first foray into the motor world. Tattu 2305 2450KV Brushless Motors are made for FPV Racing drone. Each quadcopter motor has been carefully balanced and tested in the factory. Tattu 2305 2450KV motors are mainly suitable for 180-250mm quadcopter frame, the compatible propeller sizes are 5040 / 5045 two-blade or three-blade propeller, they made for FPV Racing drone. This is an interesting motor as a first entry as it bucks a few of the current trends in the dominant motors on the market.

Review:
  • The stator size is right in the middle at 2305, a bit smaller than the popular large motors, and a bit larger than the popular small motors.
  • The weight is right in the middle as well, coming in at just under 30g. This seems to be a motor of the middle ground on just about every front, with a fairly large air gap, square magnets, and multi-strand windings.
  • The shaft is retained with a c-clip, but it does retain the stronger single-piece hollow shaft design.
  • The machining quality and smoothness of this motor are top notch, with excellent finishing and no play.
Results
The results here are reflective of the middle ground this motor seems to occupy; very solid performance, especially for the smaller stator size and conservative kV.  The kV tested a tad lower than advertised coming in around 2390kv. One of the most noticable things about these results is the relatively flat performance across the range of props, only showing about 100g difference between the lighter 5″ props and the heaviest 5″ props. This is indicative of the larger air gap and shorter stator, where the lower torque loaded props respond well to the kV and the heavier loaded props bog the motor down a bit. That being said the performance here is very comfortably in the middle range, easily clearling 1300g on the mid to heavy load props, and staying around the 1200g mark even on the light props. It is also interesting to note that this motor barely got out of the low 30A range even on the heaviest props. It seems clear this motor was targeted towards that middle space of the average user, a pilot looking for a mid-weight motor that is usable on a broad range of props and a broad range of flying styles without being over-powered or killing the battery. This seems to have it the nail on the head for a general use, broad application motor that just about any pilot can find a use for.
