For example: a 3s 11.1v 25c 2200mah lipo battery
3s:three cells in series
11.1V:3.7*3=11.1V
2200mah:the capacity of the battery
25c:the discharge rate
About voltage
3.7V voltage does not mean that when the battery is fully charged, for lithium-ion battery, the general voltage after full voltage reaches 4.2V,so 4.2*3=12.6V for a 3S battery.
Actually, the real voltage of a cell is 2.75~4.2V.the capacity signed on a battery is how much we got when the battery discharges from 4.2V to 2.75V.So all the remote control model aircraft with lithium-ion battery also must be used within the voltage range of 2.75 ~ 4.2V.Once the lithium-ion battery voltage in remote control model aircraft is lower than 3.7V,we called it over discharging(the damage for battery is fatal),It will cause puff phenomenon, chemical liquid inside will has crystalline polamer, and the crystal may penetrate the inner structural layer caused by a short circuit, will also greatly reduce the battery capacity and discharge rate, so that the battery use value greatly reduced. So good habits is the only way to increase battery life! When the lithium-ion battery voltage in remote control model aircraft is higher than 4.2V,we called it over charging. That will cause intense internal chemical reactions. It easily be exploded if you continue to charge the battery. So no matter overcharge and over-discharge of lithium batteries will have a devastating injury. Therefore, we recommend using the safety standards of regular charger to charge the battery while the charger is prohibited unauthorized alterations, which may result in very serious consequences!
About capacity and discharge rate “C”
Battery capacity to mah (mAh) as a unit, discharge rate in units of C.Regarding “C”,for example,1C means with 1C discharge rate, the battery can last work for one hour.
All in all, the smaller of the discharge rate, the longer the battery discharge time.So when you buy a battery, you cannot just check the discharge rate.A small discharge rate battery also may have large discharging than a large rate battery.Because it is also associated with the battery capacity. It means that a bigger discharge rate have a stronger life vitality. The battery in a small discharge rate will be scrapped a few times.
About charging
A.the charging current:charging current is generally located between 0.5-1c.Recommended not to exceed 1 c(it is C not A)
B.the charging voltage:charging voltage shall not exceed the limit voltage (4.20V / single cell). The maximum limit charging voltage is 4.25V for each cell. (Prohibited the use of straight recharge your battery, otherwise may cause overcharge the cells.Users undertake all the consequences due to an error using battery.)
C.temperature of charging:The battery must be charged in prescribed ambient temperature range of product specifications , otherwise the battery vulnerable to damage.
When find the battery surface temperature anomaly (refer to the battery surface temperature exceeds 50 ℃), you should immediately stop charging.
About discharging
A.discharging current:the discharge current must not exceed a predetermined maximum discharge current.Large current discharge capacity will lead to the sharp decline in the battery and cause overheat and swelling.
B.discharging temperature:the battery must be discharged within specifications specified operating temperature range. When the battery surface temperature exceeds 60 ℃, it should suspend use until the battery is cooled to room temperature.
C.over discharging:over discharging the battery will cause devastating damage, so the discharge can not make the best single battery voltage is lower than 3.7V(lipo 3s voltage).
About stock
The battery should be placed in cool storage environment, long-term storage battery (more than 3 months), it is recommended at a temperature of 10-25 ℃ and low temperature non-corrosive gas environments. In the long-term storage, every 3 months ,battery should be charged and discharged for maintaining its activity, and to ensure that the voltage across each cell within the range of 3.85V.
